Sears Holdings is seeking energetic and talented associates driven to deliver customer facing solutions for an expansive eCommerce initiative. We are looking for a Senior Database Developer, who will work with the development teams, in building database solutions to meet business needs. This covers both OLTP and Data Warehousing worlds. As a member of the team, you will have the chance to work on unique and innovative solutions on a highly scalable eCommerce platform. This position requires imaginative thinking and the ability to apply new methodologies to design complex solutions. The online channel is a key focus area for the company and is growing at an aggressive rate, creating an exciting workplace and utilizing your skills to their potential.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: - Together with other team members - the candidate will be working on various aspects of eCommerce technologies. The areas of work include OLTP / Data Warehouse DBs, with a focus on reuse. - The ability to design and deliver high quality and high performance software is an essential requirement. This position will be involved in all phases of product development from review of functional specifications through assisting with the design and oversight of the development activities. Be extremely involved in development direction, participating in designs, design reviews, code reviews, and interviews. - Maintain current technical knowledge to support rapidly changing technology, always on a look out for new technologies and work with management and development team in bringing new technologies. Candidate must be able to work with a minimum of technical supervision and supplemental engineering support, while responding efficiently to multiple program priorities Participate in technology forums and industry user groupsRole Measurements: Feasibility and scalability of work Solutions designed to meet the business requirements Delivering within project schedule Effectiveness of documentation - Utilization of development methodology Feedback on organizational effectiveness from team members and peersKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED PERFORMING ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:1. Bachelors degree - preferably in computer science - or equivalent experience2. Masters degree in computer science preferred3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills4. Exceptional ANSI SQL knowledge5. 5+ years of overall RDBMS experience with expert level on at least one database engine and working knowledge of several others.6. Ability to understand relational models for both OLTP and Data Warehouse realms.7. Expert level database tuning abilities.8. Deep understanding of DBA responsibilities and DBA level knowledge of at least one of RDBMSs.9. Experience with MySQL is a big plus.10. Ability to learn new systems and their internals fast.11. Candidate must enjoy a fast-paced environment and possess strong software engineering skills.12. Ability to adapt to new development environments, changing business requirements and learning new systems highly desired13. Understanding of web services software architectural and design issues. 14. Experience with high volume transactional systems highly preferred.15. Experience with E-Commerce or other order processing systems is a must.16. Working knowledge of Linux OS is highly preferred.
